I mean there is traditional Chinese, which I can read, but unless you're from TW you won't know how the heck to type it.Ĥ) The Overdrive app doesn't sync either. The lack of Chinese input option means there's no way to search for a Chinese book on Overdrive too. I do occasionally read Chinese text that's beyond my level (which is normal when you're trying to learn and improve right), and if there's no build-in dictionary I might as well go back to traditional books. The dictionary function is one of the main reason why I use an ereader in the first place. The lack of Chinese dictionary is a MAJOR turn off for me because while I am bilingual and fluent in both English and Chinese, I don't understand every single word there is. (Which includes like what percentage of the world population again?) You can still side load a Chinese book and read on it but it's a major inconvenience when youĬ) Don't have simplified Chinese input options Ok this only applies to Chinese people or people who read in Chinese. Whereas for Kobo, apparently it only syncs books bought from the Kobo store, which doesn't have a very impressive collection btw.ģ) Kobo does not have Simplified Chinese. You can leave your Kindle at home and read on your phone on the go. You have all the same features on the mobile app as the ereader, dictionaries, font adjustments blah blah everything. Even if it's not purchased from the Amazon store. The Kindle app is able to download ANY ebook I have on my Kindle device. That was a bad impression from the start.Ģ) Auto-sync between ereader and mobile app, regardless of content source. To add insult to injury, the wired transfer for Kobo sucks too because for some reason the device only gets detected when I plug it into that ONE particular USB port on my laptop. You don't realise just how good this feature is until you don't have it anymore. Kindle's email-to-device feature is just amazing. I feel like the device itself is good, just like the reviews mentioned, but there's so many other QOL things that reviews don't talk about. I've never been this disappointed with an electronic device ever, most of it due to the fact that I came from years of Kindle experience. I've read a bunch of good reviews on Kobo and I thought the Libra looks really good so I got one. ![]() Discussion of DRM removal is allowed for books you have purchased legally but please note that legal requirements for DRM vary by region.
